Townhouses and units are some of the most common places we fit security doors and screens across Western Sydney. If you live in a strata complex, a little homework before you order saves time and avoids having to change anything later.
This is general information only. Every strata scheme is different, so always check your own by-laws and speak to your strata manager or owners corporation.
1. Read your by-laws
Many strata schemes have by-laws about changes to the outside appearance of a lot, including the colour and style of doors and screens. Some specify a colour so the complex looks consistent.
2. Ask whether approval is needed
Depending on your scheme and the work, you may need approval before installing a security door or screens. Your strata manager can tell you the process and how long it usually takes.
3. Check colour and style requirements
If your scheme specifies a colour, let us know when you book your measure. We powder coat frames in the Dulux powder-coat range, so we can usually match the colour used on other doors in the complex.
4. Think about access
For units and upstairs townhouses, check access for our installers: lifts, stairs, parking and any building rules about work hours.
5. Renting?
If you rent, speak to your landlord or property manager first. They will need to approve the work and may need strata approval too.
