Whether you are building, renovating or replacing old windows, the style you choose for each room affects airflow, light, cleaning and security. Here is a simple room-by-room guide.
The four main styles
- Sliding windows: slide sideways, nothing projects in or out
- Awning windows: hinged at the top and open outwards, so they can stay open in light rain
- Bifold windows: fold right back to create a wide opening, often used as a servery
- Fixed windows: do not open, giving the most glass and light

Glass options
Our frames take single glazing up to 6.38mm or double glazing up to 22mm, with laminated, toughened, frosted and Low-E options. Double glazing helps with noise and comfort, and frosted glass is ideal for bathrooms and street-facing rooms.
Do not forget screens
Every opening window in a bedroom or living area benefits from a fly screen. Awning windows with chain winders let you open and close the window without removing the screen.
Replacing old windows
