If you have decided on a security door, the next choice is the infill. The two most popular modern options are marine-grade 316 stainless steel mesh and perforated aluminium. Both are strong and both look far better than the old diamond grille. Here is how they compare.

Choose stainless steel mesh if
- You want the clearest possible view out
- Airflow is your priority, for example a front door that catches the breeze
- You like a discreet look that does not change the style of the house
Choose perforated aluminium if
- You want more privacy, for example a front door facing the street
- You like a bold, modern look
- You have a busy household and want the easiest surface to wipe clean
What about coastal areas and salt air?
Marine-grade 316 stainless steel is chosen for its corrosion resistance. For homes in Western Sydney and the Hills either option works well, and a quality powder coat on the frame protects it for years.
Colour makes a difference
A dark frame such as Monument or Black makes mesh almost disappear from outside. Lighter frames such as Surfmist suit weatherboard and light-coloured homes. You can try colours on our colour visualiser or see real samples at the factory.
